Langtang Valley Trek Overview

The Langtang Valley, located north of Kathmandu and just south of the Tibetan border, is a stunning region that offers trekkers breathtaking views, rich cultural experiences, and a chance to explore the pristine wilderness of the Himalayas. It is part of the Langtang National Park, which is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, ranging from lush subtropical forests to alpine meadows and rugged mountain terra
The Langtang Valley is flanked by towering peaks, including Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), the highest mountain in the region. The valley itself is characterized by dramatic landscapes, with deep gorges, glacial rivers, and verdant forests filled with rhododendrons, oaks, and pines. As you trek through the valley, you’ll encounter stunning waterfalls, serene glacial lakes, and a variety of wildlife, including red pandas, Himalayan tahr, and numerous bird species.
The Langtang Valley is home to the Tamang people, an ethnic group with Tibetan roots. Their rich cultural heritage is reflected in the traditional stone houses, Buddhist monasteries, and colorful prayer flags that adorn the landscape. The valley is dotted with ancient monasteries, such as Kyanjin Gompa, where trekkers can witness spiritual rituals and learn about Buddhism from local monks. The welcoming nature of the Tamang people adds a unique charm to the trekking experience, as visitors often enjoy traditional meals and hospitality in local guesthouses.

Namaste and a warm welcome to Nepal. You are now at the threshold of your dream destination. Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a member of our team will transfer you to your hotel. If you arrive early, you are welcome to explore the vibrant city of Kathmandu. Our guide will be giving you  briefing about trek in the mean time. During this time, you may also prepare for your trek. If you need to purchase any trekking gear, emergency supplies, snacks, or wish to exchange currency, we recommend visiting Thamel Heart Centre for your shopping needs.

After the breakfast in Kathmandu, the journey starts with a scenic drive from
Kathmandu through winding roads, terraced farmlands, and picturesque rural
villages. Syabrubesi is the starting point of the trek, a small town located on the
banks of the Trishuli River. Syabrubesi is the gateway to the langtang region.

Today is the first day of our hiking section. With full of excitement  the first part of our trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. Then the trail gradually ascents up with dense forest to Bamboo passing through Landslide. Afterwards, our trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. We will stop here for lunch . And at the end our trail we level to the Lama Hotel. Lama Hotel is a small settlement surrounded by lush
greenery.

Trek through dense forests, then emerge into open areas with stunning views of Langtang Lirung and other surrounding peaks. Pass the settlement of
Ghodatabela, where the valley opens up,offering picturesque landscapes.
Langtang Village, devastated by the 2015 earthquake, has since been rebuilt and is a key cultural stop on the trek.

A short but scenic hike through yak pastures and alpine meadows leads to
Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is a beautiful settlement with a monastery, a
cheese factory, and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, including
Langtang Lirung, scout peak, Dorze lakpa, Ganchenpo and other snowcapped mountains.

Day hikes to Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) or Tserko Ri (4,984m) for panoramic views
of the Langtang range, Ganchenpo and surrounding peaks. Decend back slowly and have lunch at Kyanjin. We can visit the monastery and the cheese factory after hike.

Retrace your steps back through the Langtang Valley to Thyangsyap,
descending through forests and villages. The descent offers a different

  • We have daily departures for this trip from March to May and from mid-September to mid-December. You can type in the number of passengers to book a reservation and select a date that is convenient for you. Due to group size, we never cancel a trip once you’ve made a reservation. If you would rather join the group, we will add more travelers on the selected date. You can let us know once you make a reservation or earlier.
